Omigbodun's Criticism Debunked: Osun Government Responds

The Osun State Government has responded to a recent statement made by a former governorship candidate, Mr. Goke Omigbodun, regarding governance priorities and flyover bridges. The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, faulted Omigbodun's statement, describing it as lacking in facts and a mere parroting of opposition talks.

Omigbodun had asserted that the federal allocation inflow into Osun is five times higher compared to the previous government. However, Alimi corrected this, stating that while there is an increase in allocation, it is not up to two-fold, talkless of five-fold. Additionally, Alimi pointed out that Omigbodun's suggestion that the government should have paid up all accumulated salary and pension debts was not factual and would imply shutting down other sectoral demands.

The Commissioner also addressed Omigbodun's postulation that a flyover is more needed at Olaiya junction than at Oke-fia, stating that this is strange and far from the truth. Alimi explained that the traffic jams at Olaiya junction have been resolved by the Administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola by building four adjoining roads at Olaiya junction.

Alimi emphasized that the flyover at Oke-fia junction is a necessary project that will alleviate traffic congestion in the area. He expressed disappointment that Omigbodun, a former governorship candidate, would make such misleading statements. Alimi concluded by stating that the Osun State Government is committed to delivering on its promises and will not be distracted by misinformation and opposition propaganda.

In a statement, Alimi said, "While we respect the right of citizens to criticize our government, we will not stand idly by while misinformation and falsehoods are spread. We urge the public to be wary of such statements and to verify information before accepting it as true."
