Public holidays and season's celebrations boost nation’s economy - Ogungbangbe

Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe has noted the positive relationships between public holidays and consumer spendings, in favour of the nation’s economy. 

This is contained in his goodwill on the occasion of the season’s celebrations, hallmarked by the modest hospitality of the nation's public holidays, bearing significantly on the critical and interlinked issues of the well-being of Nigerians as well as the stability and growth of the nation.

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) politician, recognized for his sense of refinement and poise, said that he was mindful of the ongoing ambitious policy initiatives in the various sectors of the the nation's economy under the currently effective and responsive government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CITA ENERGIES charged the holidaymakers and the generality of Nigerians to reflect on the on-going renewals in the nation's economy, politics and society as the value of the season, adding that “the political leadership and responsibility, with citizenry engagement, so rebuilt and being revitalized on the daily basis, would continue to cause affluence and influence, to galvanize Nigeria towards a more brighter, more humane, more united, more stronger and more prosperous horizons of our dream.”

The urbane, polished and courteous businessman said, "the people who travel to different places for the celebrations of the season spend more money on the consumable in the open markets, departmental stores, and on the entertainments of families, relations, loved ones, and associates, with expenditures, generating increased activities in commerce and transportation industry. It's usually, a period of rapid and strong economic expansion at full capacity, loud and deep with high returns on investments, and a gross domestic product (GDP) for the nation. 

"The season's celebrators and celebrants, others as holidaymakers generally, are joined for celebrations at amusement parks, recreation centres, restaurants, tourism sites, seaside or holiday resorts by other charming fun characters in the relaxation for food and champagnes to improve health, longevity and strengthen bonds. And all of that boosts the consumer spendings in naira and other foreign currencies, also tells so much positively on the growth and development of the economy of the nation." 

The scion of the Ajagbusi Ekun Dynasty of Iloko Ijesa in the Oriade local government council area of Osun, acclaimed the coincidence of the on- going public holidays and the nation’s picking economy on the watch of President Tinubu for the betterment of the masses. He added that “Mr President has thus far taken positive steps in the right direction, driving the nation on the path of economic renewal and the benefits have begun to show, soonest than soon.”

Ogungbangbe charged the holidaymakers, particularly, the nation’s core stakeholders and workers in public and private sectors to refrain from any threats to stampede the economy, but get rededicated to increased productivity after holidays, saying: “The compulsory rest offered by the vacations would have had your health reinstated and ability improved, for quality service delivery to the nation on resumption at work.”
