OSUN GOVERNOR LAUDS NANNM FOR DISCHARGING THEIR DUTIES RESPONSIBLY ...as they commemorate year 2023 international nurses week

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commended the state chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) for discharging their duties responsibly at their different duty posts, even in the face of all odds.
 
The State Helmsman gave the commendation  at the year 2023 International Nurses Week celebration put in place by the state chapter of the association, which took place at the 750 Auditorium, College of Health Sciences, Osun State University, Osogbo.
  
The Governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr Akindele Adekunle stressed that health cannot translate into wealth just like the popular maxim, if proper and adequate measures are not put  in place in the state health sector and if the practitioners are not well taken care of.
  
Dr. Akindele hinted further that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke places much premium on ensuring provision of quality and affordable healthcare services for the people of the state, thus necessitating its inclusion in the five point agenda of his government.
   
He noted that the Imole Free Medical and Surgical Outreach is one of the short-term intervention programmes of the state government to enhance the health of the state populace, adding that the face-lift accorded to several medical centrers in the state is also to actualise the purpose.
 
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Health, who was the Special Guest of Honor at the occasion, Barrister Jola Akintola stated that the theme of this year Nurses' Week tagged "Our Nurses, Our Future" gives credence to the importance of investing adequately in the nursing profession for the maximisation of benefits to be derived in the health care system of the state. He assured that the State Government under the leadership of Governor Adeleke will continue to give priority attention to the welfare of nurses and other professionals in the health sector.
   
Earlier in his welcome address, the acting  State Chairman National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Comrade Waheed Oyeyemi stated that Nurses remain important pillars in the health sector while Osun Nurses have been living up to expectations in area of their calling. Comrade Oyeyemi then used the medium to appreciate Mr. Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for the prompt payment of salaries and salaries arrears owned by the previous administration and many more, adding that Osun Nurses have been so resilient and supportive to the present administration ,He then urged the government to reciprocate the good gesture of Nurses by meeting some if not all there request.



In her words of appreciation, the Director of Nurses, Osun State Ministry of Health, Mrs Laogun Olapeju gave kudos to the State Government for her supportive role in making the year 2023 Osun State Nurses' week a reality.

Present at the event were the Board Chairman, Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Barr. Niyi Owolade, Royal Father of the day, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul-Rafiu Oyekanmi Bamigboye, Chairman, Hospitals Management Board  (HMB) and his Vice, Dr. Kingsley Akinroye and  Elder Dosu Adedayo respectively as well as the Director of Public Health, Dr. Akeem Bello among others.
