OSUN STATE LAUNCHES ANIMAL DISEASE CONTROL AND VACCINATION PROGRAMME FOR 2024

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Osun State, Hon. Otunba Tola Faseru, emphasized Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke's dedication to agriculture, food security, and the welfare of livestock farmers in the state. This commitment was reiterated during the official launch of the Anthrax vaccination program for animals, supported by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), at Fulani cattle camps near the new Airforce Base in Boreedun village, Osogbo.
Highlighting the Governor's proactive measures, Commissioner Faseru mentioned the establishment of a food security committee, implementation of anthrax prevention strategies, and livestock stakeholders' sensitization and farm disinfection initiatives.

Anthrax poses a significant threat to both livestock and human health, underscoring the state's resolve to ensure the production and consumption of wholesome and hygienic meat, thereby protecting the livelihoods of its people involved in the livestock industry.

In their separate remarks,
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs. Adegbemisola Fayoyin, and the Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Mrs. Abosede Olatokun, commended the collaborative efforts with the  federal ministry of Agriculture and rural development (FMARD) in executing the anthrax vaccination program. They praised Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration for its unwavering commitment to combating livestock diseases.

In their goodwill messages 
during the event, Sheriki Fulani of Osun State, Alhaji Ibrahim Babatunde, Alhaji Adebayo Basiru, and Alhaji Abdulateef Ahmad emphasized the importance of synergy and cooperation between the government and livestock farmers to enhance productivity in the sector.

The ceremony featured the symbolic injection of animals with Anthrax vaccine by Commissioner Faseru and Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Olaniran Atidade, marking the commencement of mass vaccination across the state.
