Osun LG Polls: Prince Awofisayo Calls For Peace

Osun LG Polls: Prince Awofisayo Calls For Peace
A chieftain of the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and Chairman Elders' Council, Ife Central Local Government, Prince Felix Awofisayo has charged all residents of the state to maintain peace before, during and after the forthcoming Saturday Local Government Council election holding across the state.

He made this call in a statement he issued, signed and made available to journalists in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the Ile-Ife-born prince, it is only in the time of peace that meaningful democratic ideals can be achieved.

He stressed the need for all registered voters across the state to troop-out in their numbers and exercise their franchise by voting for any party of their choice without any fear of intimidation from any quarters.

"I want to specially appeal to all registered voters across the state to come out in their thousands and participate in the  process of electing their council chairmen, vice chairmen and councillors without any fear of intimidation," Prince Awofisayo charged.

The APC leader in the state also called on men and officers of the various security agencies in the state to stay alive to their primary responsibility of securing lives and property, especially during and after the council polls.

While taking a swipe at some individuals and groups planning on fomenting troubles ahead or during the election, the ruling-party leader charged parents and community leaders across board to rein-in their wards and educate them on the negative sides of working against the laws.

"I want to specially appeal to parents and community leaders to call their wards to order and educate them on why they should not be on the wrong side of the law," he emphasized.

Prince Awofisayo further admonished the electoral umpire, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to maintain its neutrality during the election and announce only validly-elected candidates as winners.

"At this crucial time in our state, Osun, all eyes are on the electoral umpire, OSSIEC, ) who must rise above board and conduct free and fair local government polls.

"My admonition also to OSSIEC is to remain unbiased in its task of conducting a council election that will be acceptable to all and sundry," Prince Awofisayo further charged.

While praying for the poll to favour his party, the APC leader counseled his party members to remain steadfast in their support for the party even in the face of intimidation and ensure victory for the APC.

Signed:
Prince Felix Awofisayo
Chairman of APC Elders' Council of Ife Central Local Government.
