OSUN LGSC BOSS CHARGES HLAs TO BE GOOD PROJECTORS OF GOVT. IMAGE.

Heads of Local Government Administration in Osun State have been charged to be good examples in conduct, relationships and approach to their duties in their stations.
This is just as they were equally enjoined to maintain high level of decency and moderation in all that they do, as projectors of the image of the State Government.


These admonitions were given by the Permanent Secretary in the Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Adeoye Popoola during his maiden joint meeting, with the Career Head in the State Local Government Service, held in the Commission Hall, Abere.


Barr. Popoola, who described the HLAs as arrow heads in their council areas alerted them, "If the Local Government fails, the bulk of the blame is on you."


He then counseled them to cultivate the habit of delegating authority without losing control by giving full recognition to their surbodinates regarding their statutory functions so that they can be held accountable for their actions and inactions.


Barr. Popooola was however quick to harp on the need for them to be friendly, kind and generous towards their surbodinates, adding that each officer must be motivated to greater productivity as occasion demands.


Speaking on the need for discipline in the service, the LGSC boss emphasized the need to enforce strict obedience to posting instructions, asserting that it is an height of indiscipline to ignore or despise posting.


"Our beautiful tradition in the local government service is that you should report in your new duty station within two weeks of posting.If any of your officers discountenance posting, you should let me know in writing within three weeks", he charged.


The LGSC Career Head, who was once one of the HLAs, was however soothing in his words of camaraderie to members of his former constituency: " We are here for you, i'm part of you. I am conversant with the local government service.I can feel your pains.I am accessible, my door is open. I have listening ear.I will do my best to ensure that the service is better for you.Let's work as a team. I rely on you to succeed."


He however proded the HLAs to be conversant with the 5-point agenda of Governor Ademola Adeleke and to exploit all their God-given potentials to make them realizable.


Responding on behalf of the Forum of HLAs in the State, the Forum Head ,Prince Wale Adedapo, who was enthusiastic that the glory of the local government service is back, promised one hundered percent loyalty to the government of the day, and the authorities of the Local Government Service Commission for ease of accomplishment.


He however sought cordial relationship of the HLAs with the Commission so that enforcement of discipline would be a straight line.


Highlight of the meeting was invaluable suggestions and decisions made to advance the course of local government service.
