Imbibe The Culture Of Doing Good, Bamidele Advise Nigerians

The Country Lead, Glorious Child of Hope Foundation with it's local partners and the Organisation for Good Deeds Day, Mr Adetola Bamidele has urged well meaning Nigerians to make doing good to others a priority so as to make pple live a comfortable life in every area.

Mr Bamidele gave the advice during the celebration of the "Good Deeds Day 2024" held in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

He noted that the organization is a global initiative spearhead by a visionary business woman and philanthropist, Shari Arison since 2007, aimed at fostering unity through acts of kindness towards humanity by putting smiles on the faces of people, especially the vulnerables and the environment at large.

He spoke further, " The power of goodwill is transformative - it begins with a change of heart, finds expression in our words, and ultimately manifests in tangible acts of kindness. Each small act of generosity and purposeful endeavor has the potential to create ripples of goodness that transcend our imagination.

"This year, our nation's theme for the Good Deeds Day Celebration is "Total Inclusion of Volunteers Towards the Actualization of Sustainable Development Goals Through Good Deeds Day Across Sectors." In line with this theme, we've extended our campaign of kindness to schools, the security sector, communities, streets, and media outlets. Our goal is to educate and engage everyone in the noble pursuit of doing good, thereby fostering peaceful coexistence and meaningful development in our communities, states, and the nation at large.

"At GDD, we pride ourselves on being a connected community, a compassionate team, and committed givers dedicated to bringing smiles to people's faces. As we celebrate our volunteers globally this April, we honor them for their good hearts, optimistic outlooks, unwavering dedication, positive energy, and steadfast commitment to meeting the needs of their communities.

"To all our members across the states, let us remember the true essence of this special day. Good Deeds Day is about spreading kindness and making a positive impact without expecting anything in return. It's about the joy of giving and the ripple effect of goodness that follows. Let us reflect on the power of selfless acts and how each one of us can contribute to making our nation and the world a better place, one good deed at a time. Whether big or small, every act of kindness counts", he concluded.

Delivering her lecture at the well attended event, Professor Hannah Ajayi from Institute of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife who spoke on the theme," Total Inclusion of Volunteers in the Actualization of Sustainable Development Goals using Good Deeds Day Across Sectors" noted that the SDGs vision is to ensure peace and prosperity in all the Countries of the World, saying the goals are a share vision for addressing critical challenges and improving the wellbeing of people and the planet.

She highlighted some of the goals which are; no poverty; zero hunger, health; education; gender equality; water sanitation just to mention few.

Prof. Ajayi opined that to achieve all the goals, all hands must be on deck and should not be left in the hands Government alone, calling for a collaboration between government, Organisations, and individuals in Nigeria.

She however stated that for Country and world to experience growth, 5Ps must be considered which are; people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership. She called for volunteer participants in the diverse projects that align with the SDGs all over the world to join hands together to achieve the aims and objectives of the organization.

In his own words, the Chief Executive Officer of  Initiative for Environmental Health Development, Dr Ogunbamiwo Femi noted that "Good Deed Day" is a day that is celebrated in about one hundred and fifteen Countries of the World in order to encourage all and sundry to be doing good to people at all time. 

He urged all, both young and old to imbibe the culture of doing good which according to him is a good virtue, adding that this will restore the lost moral value in the society, pinpointing to the fact that whatever people do to others, they will reap it in hundred fold.

Speaking with newsmen, some of the volunteers, Dr Mrs Taiwo Gbenga and Mss Babatunde Marvelous said it is good to do good to everyone all the time no matter how little. They advised everyone not to wait until they have much or rich before they can lend helping hands to people.
