Osun Disability Prohibition Bill: HFDI, SOLIFE Appreciates Speaker Egbedun, Irekandu, Assembly members

Hope for Family Development Initiatives HFDI, and Society for Life Changers and Good Parental Care SOLIFE has appreciated the Speaker Osun state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun for passing into law, the state Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities Prohibition bill.

This is as the non-governmental organizations also commended the chairman House Committee on Special Needs, Hon Adewumi Adeyemi, (Irekandu) and other assembly members of Osun state, for working effectively in the interest of the masses.

The commendation was made by the Chairman BOT HFDI and SOLIFE, Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele immediately after the passing of the bill into law by the Osun state House of Assembly on Tuesday.

According to Ambassador Aremu, the agitation for having the bill domesticated in Osun has been on for years from the tenure of former governor Rauf Aregbesola, adding that various advocacy, focus group discussions, dialogues, among others was part of the process of bringing the bill into law.

He excitedly applauded the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke for doing with ease, what his predecessors found difficult to do, he added that this present government actions, shows it's a administration that is concerned about its citizens, irrespective of status or classes.

"Am glad that the Persons with Disability, PWDs in Osun now has a law protection them, this will ensure that they have access to enabling environment and other necessities, kudos to the government of Ademola Adeleke and the leadership of Osun Speaker Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun, and particularly the Chairman House Committee on Special Needs (Disability matters) Hon Adewumi Adeyemi.

As one of the foremost non governmental organizations who implemented the Disability Prohibition Bill to be passed into law in Osun state, we are happy about this success story for the disability community."

The House passed had the Disability Prohibition bill during the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Adewale Egbedun on Tuesday.

The bill provides persons with disabilities access to health, education, employment and other social amenities that bring about inclusion.
