Osun NIESV Uses Valuation Day to Express Professionalism on Property Managements

Osun state chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, NIESV have reiterated its resolve to always enlighten the public on the need to identify the worth of their property, said investment is a risk and there is the need for anyone who is willing to invest to understand the risks and benefits involved.
He added that the Nigerian law only permits Estate Surveyors and Valuers to determine the value of any asset in accordance with the professional scale set by the Board of Estate Surveyors and Valuers.

The Chairman of Osun NIESV, ESV Adekunle Adedoye made this known at the commemoration of national Valuation Day, held in Osogbo the state capital on Friday.

Adedoye who stated that the valuation day is about determination of value of asset, examination of viability of projects, valuation and others, maintained that property owners stand to gain so much by patronizing professionals trained on property management for them to know how to gain from their asset.
''I advise people of Osun State and the country a large to patronize NIESV professionals in their building projects and not quacks who would put owners at risk, thereby losing their investment.''

He emphasized that Estate Surveyors and Valuers is a profession for professionals, and anyone handling property affairs, who didn't study Estate Management at a polytechnic or university Institution, nor does not have professional qualification, is a quack.

"The quacks have caused havoc in the society, so we urge people to lock out for Federal Republic of Nigeria, Estate Valuers Board of Nigeria ESVABON, and Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers NIESV logos at any property handler office they patronize, so that they won't fall victim of agents fraud, they are not our members if they ain't professionally registered with us."

He commended the good relationship with the government of Osun State under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, adding that there are practicing Estate Surveyors and Valuers as staff of Osun government in the Ministry of Lands and Physical planning, local government sectors, universities and polytechnics, playing advisory role and when it comes to implementation and practical aspect they contact us, that is why we have our members as consultant to the government - Adedoye stated.  

In his remarks, the Coordinating Director Ministry of Lands and Physical planning, ESV Oladapo Fasina lauded the professionals on the celebration of Valuation Day, said that Osun government will continue to work with the Estate Surveyors and Valuers professional in the state.

Maintaining that the government identifies the practicing Estate Surveyors and Valuers as the real property professionals, urged individuals to be careful of being defrauded by house agents, stated that the law is there to take care of anyone with such challenge, and he maintained that house agents are different for Estate Surveyors and Valuers who are professionals.
In celebration of the 2023 Valuation Day, the Osun Chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers did a street parade to enlighten the public, the road show started from their state Secretariat at Africa area to the government office secretariat.

Earlier as part of the celebration of the Valuation Day, the institution was also on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, OSBC radio program tagged "Kajoso" (Let's Deliberate) featuring Osun NIESV Chairman ESV Adedoye Adekunle, Former State Chairman ESV (Pst) Segun Fasiku, ESV (Prof) Seyi Adegoke: OAU Ile-Ife, and ESV (Pst) O.O Fasina CD Ministry of Lands and Physical planning Osun State.
